The AXOOM platform has its first major key account: the mechanical engineering company TRUMPF. As of EuroBLECH 2018, the company will deliver new machines with the option of using the latest TRUMPF apps free of charge via the AXOOM IoT platform. The platform hosts and aggregates machine data and initially provides five TRUMPF apps that can be used, for example, to monitor the machine status or analyze programs and material usage. In the foreseeable future, old and third-party machines will also be able to use of the apps.
"The cooperation with TRUMPF is an important milestone in our growth strategy because hundreds of machines will be connected to our platform in no time," explains AXOOM CEO Tom Tischner. "At the same time, it is a blueprint for other machine manufacturers who want to make their products fit for the world of Internet-based networking in a secure way.” The AXOOM platform offers a vertical integration of software, sensors and machines, so that complete machine parks can be connected, monitored and analyzed in all parts of the world via the Internet.
For these monitoring and analysis functions, apps are used that in the specific case come from TRUMPF, but can also be provided by AXOOM itself or by other platform participants. And that is exactly where the journey is heading to. Tischner: "We are fully committed to the network effect: The more machine manufacturers deliver products with AXOOM cloud connection, the more apps run on the platform and the more end customers benefit from these apps, the more useful the offer becomes for all parties involved.”
AXOOM GmbH, headquartered in the technology region of Karlsruhe, was founded in 2015 as a subsidiary of the TRUMPF Group. The company employs around 100 people who see themselves as passionate shapers of the Industrial Internet of Things. With the AXOOM platform, they are developing an open operating system for the industry, which pools data from machines and provides apps for the optimal operation of these machines and the entire value chain. For the benefit of the AXOOM ecosystem: Thanks to AXOOM technology, machine builders can offer smart machines and develop digital business models. Manufacturing companies are experiencing new dimensions of transparency and productivity. App and distribution partners benefit from the marketplace potential of the platform. The experts at AXOOM with their software and mechanical engineering know-how support this ecosystem: They quickly link every machine to the platform, develop individual strategies for digital transformation and thus make AXOOM the initiator and partner of integrated Industry 4.0 solutions.
